For now, there is no compatible version of this software with Windows 8. If you have a laptop with this software pre-installed, the developers advise you to uninstall it if you want to run Windows 8.
Face Recognition is installed as software that means that if you uninstall the application, Windows will return to its normal password log-in or automatic login. Please uninstall it using the built-in uninstallation screen that Windows offers. These programs come pre-installed and are considered rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bloat#Bloatware">bloatware by most of the users. The entry in the uninstall menu is Toshiba Face Recognition or Toshiba Supervisor Password.
How do I use this? I did restart the computer but it doesn't work.

For this problem I suggest that you try to unsintall the software and then install the latest version of it. In order to uninstall the software you can try to go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows 7). If this doesn't work, you can try using a third party tool like Revo Uninstaller that will remove the application by force. Additionally, try running AdwCleaner to make sure that there are no leftover rogue registry keys or toolbars in your system.
To download the latest version of the software, you can try visiting the following official website.

I have the Face Recognition software on my laptop. I added a password on my user account and I also created a profile in the Toshiba face recognition. When my Windows OS starts, I'm automatically asked to enter my password. After that, it asks me if I want to be recognized by the camera. I have to choose to do so. How can I make it start using the face recognizing feature first and then, if it fails, to ask me for the password?

You can't. The system password query will always run first. If you want, you can remove the User password from Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > Change your Windows password. In this way you will be able to log in using only the Toshiba Face Recognition.
